Joe Biden told a crowd at a campaign rally on Tuesday he plans to ‘cure cancer’ if he is elected president in 2020.
Daily Mail reports:
The former Vice President was speaking at an event in Ottumwa, Iowa, on the same day Donald Trump flew into the state.
Biden, whose son Beau died from brain cancer back in 2015, called finding a cure for the disease the ‘single most important thing that changes America’.
‘A lot of you understand what loss is,’ Biden said. ‘When loss occurs a lot of people come up to you and say “I know how you feel”. But you feel like saying “You have no idea how I feel”.’

He added: ‘I promise you if I’m elected president, you’re going to see the single most important thing that changes America, we’re gonna cure cancer.’
Biden has been responsible for a number of cancer initiatives in the past.
During his time in office with Barack Obama he headed the ‘Cancer Moonshot’ programme’.
He also launched the Biden Cancer Initiative after leaving office.
During his speech on Tuesday, the Democratic frontrunner took some shots at President Trump, calling him an ‘existential threat’ to the country.
Biden’s event in Iowa had only a few hundred supporters in attendance but all three cable news networks airing live.
He hit Trump on the economy, an area the president prides himself on, often touting the nation’s low unemployment numbers as evidence his presidency is doing well.
‘I hope his presence here will be a clarifying event because Iowa farmers have been crushed by his tariffs toward China,’ Biden said. ‘It’s really easy to be tough when someone else absorbs the pain, farmers and manufacturers.’
The two men have exchanged verbal thrusts and volleys since Biden entered the race to be the 2020 Democratic president nominee.
Trump has called Biden ‘low IQ’ while the former vice president has called the president a ‘threat’ to the nation.
But Tuesday put both men in Iowa – a state crucial in both the Democratic presidential primary and the 2020 general election.
The president renewed his attack on the ground in Iowa at a renewable fuel standard event the White House was holding. He claimed America would not be ‘respected’ by other countries, if Biden were at the nation’s helm as president.
‘He was someplace in Iowa today, and he said my name so many times that people couldn’t stand it anymore,’ Trump claimed.
Cupping his ears and nodding his head in disagreement, the president did an impression of Iowa voters who attended Biden’s event, saying, ”No, don’t keep saying it.’ ‘
