Bernie Taupin has been Elton John’s songwriting partner for more than 50 years — but he says he still doesn’t know a hit when he hears one.
With John’s biopic “Rocketman” in theaters, Taupin told us of the rock legend’s 1976 duet with Kiki Dee, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart”: “I hated it, and it was the biggest single we had in Europe.”
Taupin, who wrote the upbeat track, added, “I just did not like it … But Elton [above] always ignores me when I say I don’t like a song. He always knows better than me.”
