Sen. Kamala Harris (D., Calif.) said during a press conference in New Hampshire on Wednesday that fellow 2020 presidential contender Joe Biden would make a great pick for vice president, a role Biden already filled from 2009 to 2017.
Harris’s comment came in response to a question asking if she was tired of being labeled “the perfect running mate” by her competitors.

“If people want to speculate about running mates, I encourage that, because I think that Joe Biden would be a great running mate,” Harris, responded. “As vice president, he’s proven that he knows how to do the job.”
Harris added that there’s “certainly a lot of other candidates that would make, for me, a very viable and interesting vice president,” according to a report from CNN.
Earlier this week, members of the Congressional Black Caucus pitched a Biden-Harris team as the “dream ticket” for 2020, which prompted speculation that the two might run together with Harris as vice president.
“If she is not the nominee, that would be a dream ticket for this country,” Rep. Lacy Clay (D., Mo.) said of Harris to Politico.
Other black lawmakers were equally enthusiastic about the proposal.
“Either combination there, I’d love,” Rep. Anthony Brown (D., Md.) told Politico. “I think he’s going to look to balance his ticket so that the ticket itself is more appealing. … I think it would make sense and it wouldn’t surprise me if he picked a woman of color.”
House Majority Whip James Clyburn said a Biden-Harris ticket would be a vindication of his prediction that once Biden entered the race, everyone else would running to be his vice president.
“I said a few weeks ago that if [Biden] were to get in, everybody else would be running for second place. I said that over a month ago. And he got in, and the polls said everyone else is running for second place,” Clyburn told Politico. “The data are clear that he has strong support among African Americans. It’s just that simple. He’s had that for a long, long time, and he’s kept it steady so far.”
