One of President Donald Trump’s biggest adversaries isn’t happy with him undermining his own Justice Department.
Attorney Michael Cohen abandoned all loyalty to Trump and came clean, admitting he was involved in a hush money payments made to women who claimed to have had affairs with the president.
Cohen will soon go to prison for three years for his crimes, but before then, he promised to cooperate fully with special counsel Robert Mueller and his investigation into the Trump campaign.
Trump, in retaliation, called his former lawyer a “rat” in a Twitter tirade on Sunday.
“Remember, Michael Cohen only became a ‘Rat’ after the FBI did something which was absolutely unthinkable and unheard of until the Witch Hunt was illegally started,” the president wrote.
“They broke into an attorney’s office! Why didn’t they break into the DNC to get the Server, or Cooked’s office?” Trump continued, referring to Hillary Clinton.

Former FBI Director James Comey said the implication that Cohen is a “rat” goes against legal principal.
“It undermines the rule of law,” he said to reporters Monday after leaving his testimony to Congress. He continued:
“This is the president of the United States calling a witness who is cooperating with his own Justice Department a rat. Say that again to yourself at home and remind yourself where we have ended up.”

Comey, a frequent critic of Trump ever since he lost his FBI position, said the issue goes beyond party lines.
“This is not about Republicans and Democrats, this is about what does it mean to be an American,” he said, adding that “we have to stop being numb” to Trump’s antics.
“Whether you are a Republican or a Democrat, you need to stand on your feet, overcome your shame, and say something,” Comey added.
